My name is Shane Langbauer. I paint model horses in mixed media with a focus on oil colors and smooth-as-glass finish work. I particularly enjoy painting red based horses, such as chestnuts and bays, but you'll find a variety of realistic and fantasy inspired models in my gallery. Models painted in my studio have won countless NAN cards, division championships and overall championships, as well as awards at the North American Nationals. Workmanship and a strict attention to detail, whether it is hyper-realistic eyes and hooves or a correct hair-by-hair coat pattern, are a driving force in my studio which, I think, sets my studio apart from others. When I am not in the studio painting, you may find me traveling the world pursing my other passion: science! In 2020 I graduated with top honors from Cornell University, majoring in Animal Science with a minor in infectious diseases. Oddly enough, I find that the immense attention to detail required in both my studio and scientific studies mesh well together, giving me a unique perspective while painting. Finally, as a major cat lover, you won't find me in the studio without my trusty studio buddy, George!
